Jon,
I was particularly pleased to see your post on the infesibility of cross
species gestation. It is dismaying to me that our society wishes to "spare"
us from the greatest miracle of our lives, for the sake of some discomfort. I
find that reframing the adaptations to pregnancy and breastfeeding in
functional terms rather than pathologic terms (demonstrating the usefullness
of say, reducing intestinal transit time) and discussing ways to work with the
process (eat fresh veggies & fruits, drink more water and walk more) greatly
increases mothers' tolerance for said adaptations.
