Apologies if I've written this already -- sometimes my brain is made of Swiss cheese. The September 1995 issue of HEALTH Magazine has a good story on breast implants called "Farewell Perfect Breasts: A Tale of Body-Image in Post-Implant America." This article, unlike the one in Texas Monthly, does mention what breasts are for and has a good discussion of the pressures on ordinary women to have larger breasts. It also mentions how to get implants that will interfere least with breastfeeding. Katherine A. Dettwyler, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Anthropology Texas A&M University e-mail to [log in to unmask]
