Hi Martha, My occasional (not all the time, but when I'm feeling particularly zealotish) response to moms who call with complaints about certain pumps which often don't get anything out.... "Well, this company, like many others, primarily sells formula. It has an obligation to its stockholders to sell as much formula as possible to make their stockholders a lot of money. So, it isn't in their best interest to produce a truly effective pump. but if they can make a bit of money off the pump, and then make you think it is your fault when you can't pump any milk, and then you buy formula and/or stop bf your baby -- they've won all the way around. Pretty nifty marketing. Sort of like RJ R------- making stop smoking patches." And the moms say, "Wow, I never thought about it quite like that before." And sometimes I'm able to save the bf.
