If we're going for records here, I counseled a mother whose baby went 27 days without stooling (which is also the record length of time referred to in the literature that I'm aware of). He was about 6-10 weeks old when this occurred. Baby was never bothered by it, no abdominal distention or discomfort, but mom and the Peds were both getting *really* concerned. Some prune juice was tried after about 3 weeks without success. When baby did finally fill his diaper, it was without fanfare, while riding in his carseat, and no one even knew he was doing it. Everyone was much relieved! I always relate this "record" when a mother calls concerned that her child hasn't gone for a few days or a week.
