reply to Melissa Vickers,
This is personal experience only after the multiple surgeries I've had and
with the artificial hip I have to be treated with antibiotics just to get my
teeth cleaned! I think they've used every antibiotic in the book on me at one
time or another. All of this has changed my body flora and I have adopted a
saying "All you have to do is look at me and say antibiotic and I have a
yeast infection" All of the OTC (over the counter) meds will not work for me.
I have to use something called FEMSTAT Butoconazole Nitrate vaginally before
the first antibiotic dose and continue through the entire antobiotic
treatment. Eventually I am sure that I will develop yeast that is resistant
to this.
As an aside, we have noticed in our clinic that hospital workers have
resistance yeast and often get resistant mastitis. Again hospital employees
have different body flora. (I get really angry at the nurses who drip IV
antibiotics into the rug instead of the sink, because they are helping create
super germs.)
The grandma is probably on the right trail.
