I posted a note about iron and when we supplement and realized after I sent
it that I did not mention one important point: we consider iron fortified
infant cereal (if taken in sufficient quantity) to be a source of iron
supplementation for the breastfed infant. Seems like Fomon's group did a
study (or maybe it was Dallman???) that showed that part of the problem
keeping iron levels up in exclusively breastfed infants who have started
cereal is that it takes them too long to get to sufficient quantities to make
a difference. So, kill the juice and push the cereal! Any thoughts???
