Hi all -- Personal experience with pumping: When I ret'd to work with a 6 mos old Exclusively BF baby (giving you an idea of how much milk I should have been producing), using a hospital grade pump, I could pump 2-4 oz TOTAL only pumping once per 8 hour shift and nursing baby immed before I left and upon return. When I discovered syntocinon nasal spray (no longer being marketed now), I could obtain 6-8 oz in the same amt of time...I often find that with clients who have difficulty "letting down" to a pump, that they will benefit from psych stuff such as relaxation, picture of baby and touch like massage or manual expression. Any one else with similar or different experiences?? KathyRubin IBCLC RN in NJ
