Hi Kathy et al.:

Imagine the mother will get a bill for tongue clipping. Even though she
didn't request it, she was asked and agreed to it before it was done.

Although I've never heard of an oral procedure being combined with an
abdominal one, it's not all that unusual for a surgeon to add a little extra
(with permission) while a patient is anesthetized, e.g. "Want me to remove
that mole while you're numb?" It's always been pretty standard to do an
appendectomy when doing another abdominal procedure that exposes the
appendix, unless it would compromise the patient's health at the time.

Don't think the old adage "two for the price of one" generally applies,
however! And in the case of the mole or appendix, there would be pathology
exam charges as well.

Glad all is well for your mother and baby. Goes to show how important it is
to approach each dyad as a unique entity.
