Hi Jackie; Its good to hear from you through LACTNET. I am responding to your posting about Wyeth. It does not surprise me that they are approaching people, although I have not heard of any of their clinics. I am not sure what they are referring to regarding the code, it sounds to me a bit of an oxymoron! My concern is that there will be health care professionals out there, and yes even IBCLC's who might take them up on their offer. I recently had to listen to a new IBCLC, one with little clinical experience, naivly (?sp) tell me that there was nothing wrong with formula, and the companies were just trying to be good corporate citizens etc.! It was very stressful for me to have to listen to this as I was sitting on a committee and not in a position to be able to respond! In these days of scarce financial resources and the need for breastfeeding clinics, due to the hospital stay gets shorter and shorter and in particular the practices i.e. use of epidurals etc. not changing, there will continue to be a variety of practice induced problems for women.
