Dear Lactnet Friends: The major reason for poor results on the metabolic screening, done on all babies before hospital discharge, is that the little circles weren't all filled in correctly on the test paper. Infant's heel is pricked and the blood is to drip freely, filling the little circles. If the infant is crying or cold, if the staff person is squeezing and milking the little foot to get the blood to flow, results may be faulty and a repeat test required. This is the major reason for poor results of which I am aware. warmly, -- Nikki Lee RN, BSN, Mother of 2, MS, IBCLC, CCE, CIMI, ANLC, CKC Author:* Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Breastfeeding Therapy* www.breastfeedingalwaysbest.com https://www.facebook.com/nikkileehealth *Get my FREE webinar series* *********************************************** Archives: http://community.lsoft.com/archives/LACTNET.html To reach list owners: [log in to unmask] Mail all list management commands to: [log in to unmask] COMMANDS: 1.
