Thank you to those who have offered their experiences with the JHACO core measure on exclusive breastfeeding. I am still trying to understand how having this core measure is an incentive for staff if there is no consequence from JHACO for low compliance or low exclusive breastfeeding numbers.

I am also wondering how to implement this measure when a huge sector of our moms  request formula in addition to breastfeeding. Do you simply refuse to give formula to these moms? Or do you educate the mom on the risks of formula, offer her a pump or to teach hand expression first, and  then chart mom's refusal to comply?
