Hello,

I am working with a mother who had retained placental fragments removed via
D&C at 1 wk postpartum. A reproductive endocrinologist (her sister)
recommended estrogen suppositories for several days post D&C to help prevent
scar tissue that could impact future pregnancies. This mother had a breast
reduction done about 10 years ago and is now coping with milk supply
concerns (is using domperidone, herbs, etc, etc). From a lactation
perspective, I am concerned about the estrogen obviously however I
understand the need for her to balance the risks vs. benefits and make an
informed choice. My main question is that I have worked with many mothers
pre/post D&C and have never had a provider suggest or Rx estrogen
suppositories for these newly postpartum mothers. Is this a new
trend/protocol I need to be aware of???
