Hello everyone. I was wondering if any of you would have some information on thickening breast milk for an infant in the NICU. It is not a case that I am working on personally, but have heard some discussion of changing to formula and thickening that with rice cereal (due to the rice cereal not thickening the breast milk). I would think that if an infant is in the NICU, it would be imperative to protect breastfeeding as much as possible so am stumped as to why this would be one of the first recommendations. Thanks for any insight you can offer me in my learning journey to earn that coveted IBCLC credential!
