When my daughter was 21 months old (but so tall she looked like she was 30+ months old!), we spent a glorious month in Italy and breastfed in public every day without incident. I agree with the pp that Italy is a child-friendly place. Strangers approach children as if they're members of the family, with loads of affection and playfulness. My only complaint is that organic food is almost non-existent there. no place is perfect. ;) Interestingly, although I've lived in France for more than 6 years, I've only seen NIP 3 x here and two out of the three times were Italians! I wasn't able to determine the nationality of the third mom. Your friends will have a wonderful time in gorgeous Italy! Salute!
