My first thoughts were that the infant has symptoms of reflux. Then I searched and read about infantile hemangiomas. Quite complex, scary, can be difficult to differentiate from vascular malformations and require a pediatric medical team involving oncology/hematology, derm, and peds surgery and more. Here is the link to the excellent information about this. It stands to reason that there could be other complications, I could not find if reflux was associated with this, but since it is on the face/lips there could possibly be something internal too. If this mother/baby dyad is near a large city where a pediatric team could be located, I would advise they see these specialists. The article also states that often babies are misdiagnosed, not treated appropriately due to inexperienced doctors. http://www.ajronline.org/content/174/3/597.full Laurie Wheeler RN MN IBCLC Mississippi USA *********************************************** Archives: http://community.lsoft.com/archives/LACTNET.html To reach list owners: [log in to unmask] Mail all list management commands to: [log in to unmask] COMMANDS: 1.
