I see LOTS of older babies refusing the breast because of decreased milk supplies, that continue to refuse even after mom has gotten her milk UP again. Another idea that sometimes works is supplementing at the breast. It is true that a baby over a month or so WILL know the tube is there. If you prime the tube with milk so they know what it is there for, some will "go for it", and take the breast with the added flow. Then mom works on gradually decreasing milk via tube by using smaller diameter tubes on the supplemental nursing system.
