Laura, A mom on an elimination diet asked you if she could be calcium deficient, causing dental decay. She certainly could be calcium deficient, but my first concern was Vitamin D deficiency, which is apparently more common than we ever dreamed. Calcium is available in grains and vegetables (and corn tortillas); she need never have any dairy to get enough calcium. She may also have enamel defects and she could be drinking too much soda. I think she could use the help of a registered dietitian to help make sure she is not micronutrient deficient. Just my 2 cents. Rowena Tucker IBCLC, Texas
