Good news!

I left this mom yesterday with Tina Smillie's latch video and she had her first painless, 20 minute 4 oz pumping while watching it!!! Another painless, good yield pumping followed. Although she had less success overnight when she was tired, she is encouraged.
I thank all of you for your swift and excellent responses on a weekend. Now I have many tricks up my sleeve in case she continues to need help.
FYI, I didn't go into great detail in my first post but she did wind up using different size pump flanges, the larger one on the left. She was also confused on how to use the letdown button on the Symphony pump (she was pushing that button before she started pumping.) She had been using massage during pumping all along. We did try RPS but Jean Cotterman's excellent description of her technique is worth trying. She certainly had enough edema.
It was so nice to know that many of my suggestions were seconded by this wonderful group. There is no one right way to help every mother but there are certainly many, many great ideas out there. Thank you for being my sounding board. The client sends her utmost thanks as well.
