"if he is hurting her, instead of responding or reacting in an angry way, cry out in a way that indicates she is in pain and he is hurting her--without an angry tone (even though she deserves to feel angry)" I would be cautious with this route. Whatever we give the most attention to, we get more of. For some babies, anything that gets a strong reaction, angry or not, will be tested out again and again. With my refluxy bitey baby, I found it best to nurse her vertically, in a mayawrap or similar sling with my finger *right there* so that I could insert my finger into her mouth if she clenched down on the breast. I didn't see any improvement in the behavior until I was totally calm and expressed little to no audible reaction if she bit down. I would look at her calmly and slowly shake my head 'no' while inserting my finger into her mouth to protect and extract the breast/nipple tissue. It did eventually stop but while it continued...phew....it was very difficult.
