Hi Vicki,

My second daughter has a very tight upper labial frenulum, and she had no problems nursing at all!! She has a huge space between her front teeth from it, and when I asked the doctors they said it was no concern. They actually said she might be running along, trip and crack it open when she falls. She has no problems flanging her lips out. And she is a finger sucker- loves her 2 fingers!!

Has anyone associated a tight upper labial frenulum with strong tendency to suck the upper lip during attempts at latching? The baby I have in mind also doesn't flange his upper lip outwardly with the bottle or breast. Yet the ped said "no tongue tie or tight labial frenulum evident". I see his labial frenulum but not really sure how tight is tight, and the symptoms give me reason to wonder.
