Dear all:

As others have more articulately stated and has repeated, health care pra=
ctitioners are=20
supposed to educate parents with evidence-based information about alterna=
tive feeding=20
methods when these need to be used or the parents use to them. My readin=
g of the code is=20
that we are supposed to educate them how to do so in the safest possible =
way. So, this=20
does not preclude addressing problems when you need to use alternatives.

The Code is not about the appropriate use of alternatives it is about mis=
leading advertising.

Even Microsoft got nailed when they were using inappropriate marketing pr=
actices. Once=20
upon a time when they were a small start up company they actually wrote b=
etter, more=20
creative software. As they grew bigger they demolished many a good little=
software=20
company that had better software than what they have now. Furthermore, I=
think their=20
1987 versions of their software actually functioned more reliably than th=
eir 2008 version.=20=20
So, it appears to me that Medela is unfortunately moving along a similar =
trajectory.

Best, Susan

Ah,
Now this one I "get" - or at least I see their marketing agenda....
Bottles that require bags are not "green" and wind up in landfills where
they do not decompose, being made of plastic.
Bottles that you wash and re-use are therefore "green" - simply because they
are designed for more than single use.
Are they really "green"? NO!

Oh -- the new advertising that is really killing me on bottles is that th=

"green". Some of these bottles are really rock bottom in the feeding dep=

fail to understand how any bottle can be labeled "green".=
