Hello all -- First, an introduction: My name is Brenda Carroll. I have a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, have been a LLL Leader for 4 years and am a newly minted IBCLC. As a therapist, I practiced clinically for 7 years and worked as an administrator for another 4. I am in the process of setting up a private practice in the mid-western United States. I plan to do home visits primarily, although I am working on a deal with a local pediatrics practice to have a limited number of office hours. I am currently attempting to set up a fair and appropriate fee structure that will take into account my travel expenses and be commensurate with what others in my area are charging and my level of experience. The vast majority of IBCLC's in my area are affiliated with hospitals. Of the three private practices in my area, two do home visits regularly and the other does mostly office visits. One has extensive experience and credentials and charges $100 for a home visit. The second charges $75 for an initial home visit and a lower unspecified fee for subsequent visits. The practice that primarily does office visits charges $90 for a first office visit and $125 fee for off-site visits. I have searched the archives and found most people seem to prefer the discussion of fees and charges to be done off-list. I also found several web hits about a U.S. fee survey started in Sept. 07 by Diana West but can't seem to find the results of the survey. Any assistance regarding fees would be appreciated.
