Dear Friends: Sam Doak, my heart aches for you and your dilemma as you give wrong answers on nursing tests in order to pass the course. You will have to study a lot to learn those wrong answers. Journal of Human Lactation, Vol. 23, No. 4, 345-349 (2007 had an article about this very thing; the authors reviewed 6 major nursing texts and tallied up the inaccuracies about breastfeeding. "Breastfeeding Information in Nursing Textbooks Needs Improvement" is their conclusion. (About a year earlier, these same folks reviewed medical texts and found the same thing.) If you have the time and energy, you could speak with the heads of the various nursing departments of obstetrics and pediatrics, as well as the top head of the whole nursing program and educate them. You might mention the AAP drug list......nurses have to follow the doctor's orders, and if the AAP says that certain drugs are safe, how could a nursing text refute that?? (This could be a trump card.) You could offer to do a presentation for your peers as a project for the class, so at least your fellow students would be exposed to the accurate information. Good luck! We all have to help each other with this one. warmly, Nikki Lee RN, BSN, MS, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CCE, CIMI craniosacral therapy practitioner, Elkins Park, Pennsylvania USA _www.myspace.com/adonicalee _ (http://www.myspace.com/adonicalee) **************Planning your summer road trip?
