They don't want anyone's blood pressure to possibly bottom out with an epidural, so they cram you full. Enough to dilute your blood, even, and lower hemoglobin levels!! I was one of those moms with breast edema after a 50 hour induced labor that included an epidural... fortunately massaging out the fluid worked for us and I didn't have supply issues afterwards. I wonder if moms have supply issues because Baby can't get latched on deeply enough to remove enough milk? Mine came out so fast, he didn't need to get on there that well... but it sure hurt... :( Thankfully the hospital LC got us all straightened out!
