Dear lactnetters, I am not an active participent in the lactnetgroup, but for several years I read the daily digest. Now I have a problem with a client (perm. to post) and I hope if anyone has an answer or suggestion. Mother with a 3 months old daughter, overcame several problems with breastfeeding, but things went well after a few weeks. Since two weeks she noticed a painfull white spot on the top of her nipple. I looked at it and it seemed very much like a milk bleb. (I looked it up in the bfatlas) First we pumped for a few seconds to enlarge it a bit. After that I tryed to open it using a sterile thin needle. But there only came a little bit of blood and no milk or something simular. I advised her to keep the nipple warm and moisty, hoping something would happen the next few days. But the blep is still there. In the weekend she went to the hospital; the pain became much more. A very clumsy surgeon tried to open it with a much more thick needle, it didn't work and he just told her to stop bf. AARRGHH...! He said several other offending things to her, so I am preparing an offical complaint against him. He told her also there was nothing such as an abces or cyste underneath the bleb. She is now pumping the affected side and feeding on the other breast. Is there anyone with a good advise or with a simular experience and hopefully a solution. Thanks in advance.
