I'm sure many other League people do too. The session was a discussion of the cultural aspects of a period of lying in - to protect new mothers. 1. Distinct Postpartum period 2. protective rituals/measures reflect a new mom's vulnerability. 3. Social seclusion and mandated rest. 4. functional assistance 5. social recognition of her new role and status.
