Have you tried baby led attachment? (A great explanation of this process is here >http://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfinfo/bla.html<) What is happening with the baby's nappies (diapers)? If the mother's nipples are sustaining injury, the attachment (and possibly, but not necessarily - the nappies will tell you, milk transfer) is not good. I have had much success with BLA. Many mothers start out sceptical but once they have had their first ever pain-free feed, they are convinced. A couple of days at home using BLA and S2S seems to get them over the hump and baby seems to then be able to attach using cross cradle hold.
