And this is why La Leche League is so successful. They SEE us latch, they SEE how often we actually nurse. They SEE that we don't bother to check the clock or try to make the baby wait a little longer. They SEE that we don't make baby-feeding into a huge issue, but a natural part of mothering, they SEE how discreetly it is done, they see how nursing can fit into their lifestyle. They see that we sometimes have to rock and shush and jiggle and soothe because some babies need help to settle. And this is why I have got down on the floor to demonstrate how to sleep with baby next to me, and why I have worn a swimsuit under my clothes to summer meetings and brought a beach towel to demonstrate how easy it is to nurse discreetly in a swimsuit when you place the towel over your shoulders - both shoulders, like everybody else on the beach does, not over one shoulder like nursing mothers who are trying to hide, do. Mothers need mentors. Sheila, LLLL _________________________________________________________________ Your Space. Your Friends. Your Stories.
