Teens sometimes have babies to have someone to love (often when they've
suffered a loss in their life), so they are very amenable to messages
about bonding and the special love between breastfeeding mother and
baby. Telling them how special they will be to their baby, but that
other people can still help them, often does the sales job right there.
If they are interested in autonomy, you can talk about breastfeeding
giving them power in the baby's care. You can also ease some fears about
nipple pain, embarrassment, ability to have a life and a baby, etc.
