Dear Friends: Barbara Ash reminds us that the second credential is not a done deal........yet. But how is it that IBLCE continues on its merry way towards this second credential, despite a negative reaction from ILCA? Here's what is on the IBLCE website this morning about the second credential: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Breastfeeding Peer Support Credential: The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) has identified a need in Canada and the United States to define a baseline of competence for those providing community-based breastfeeding peer support. The Board is developing a criterion-referenced certification to evaluate the competence of these individuals, who are an important component of the continuum of care available to breastfeeding mothers in these countries. Relevant stakeholders are being consulted." -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Who are these "relevant stakeholders"? Does the Board of Directors of IBLCE ignore ILCA? warmly, Nikki Lee RN, MS, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CCE,CIMI Adjunct Faculty, Union Institute and University, Lactation Program Film Reviews Editor, Journal of Human Lactation www.breastfeedingalwaysbest.com *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET email list is powered by LISTSERV (R).
