Dear All, I am sickened and demoralized about the SoP and have been closely following all the recent LN posts. I'm about to write my letter to those suggested and just had a thought. What if the powers that be heard also from some of all of our former clients? What if those moms whose babies were tongue tied, HCP denied its existence, but mom went ahead and had it clipped because the nipple pain was too intense and weaning was looming, despite moms' desire to continue to breastfeed? (The outcomes for majority of said moms was positive and breastfeeding continued). What about the moms who breastfed because of domperidone information that was given them, or herbals that saved many a breastfeeding relationship. What about the moms who tell us, "You saved my breastfeeding," or "I couldn't have done it without you." If we are bound and gagged by the dictates of this SoP what will happen to these moms and babies? So, despite it being an embarrassment to share what seems to be happening to our profession, would it not be powerful to have IBLCE hear from the consumers about the vital importance of lactation consultants speaking the truth, sharing their repetoire of evidenced-based information? And how about those HCP's who collaborate with us and have learned from us, could they not be asked to champion our freedom of practice?
