Debbie, are you sure it's not thrush? I recently had a Group mom (LLL) with a giant knob on her nipple that looked like a huge bleb (milk blister). She went to a doctor who told her it was a calcified milk deposit, which I didn't buy (doc also said she'd need surgery to excise it, which I also didn't buy). I never supected thrush because this mom was very prone to blebs and was taking lecithin anyway, I just thought it was a really bad one that didn't resolve itself. She finally went on a course of diflucan, treated her baby as well, and reports (after several months of working on it) that she has never felt better, the big white knob is gone from her nipple, and she is pain free for the first time in her nursing memory. My radar went up when you said this mother was on Ampicillin...antibiotics often lead to thrush in yeast-susceptible women. What do you think? --Diana in NY (who is now definitely more aware of yeast issues!) *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
