To anyone who can help: I am an IBCLC, certified in 2001. I have recently recertified. I have only just been successful in getting the sister hospital to our medical school (my employer) to recognize LCs as AHPs (Allied Health Professionals). This should help in positioning LCs to receive referrals in the hospital, to make assessments and plans, and to follow-up in the clinic afterwards. In order to complete this credentialing process in this hospital (Thomason General Hospital in El Paso, TX) I have been asked to provide the Credentialing Committee with 1. Appropriate credentialing criteria and 2. Appropriate peer review and performance indicators (by which to evaluate a credentialed CLC's performance). I have copies of "Standards of Practice for IBCLC LCs" and "Clinical Competencies for IBCLC Practice" from ILCA, but I am not sure if these are what they are asking for. As you will notice from my signature block , I am not an RN. This sometimes puts me at an disadvantage regarding the sort of technical jargon above. Please, anybody who can tell me exactly what peer review and performance standards might be, or who can send me some, It would really save me time and humiliation. Thanks, libby in El paso Lizabeth J.
