Her baby is two months old -- and before I said ANYTHING, she said, "I know the best thing is to breastfeed, but I want to wean." Period. A mom I saw yesterday at the hospital said she had decided to go to bottle feeding without ever putting her baby to breast. "I know that breastfeeding is best for him, but I had so much trouble last time and was so glad when I started bottle feeding that I don't even want to try this time." Yes, they've gotten the message that "breastfeeding is the best feeding for babies," but they are countering with the message that it isn't best for themselves. Sigh.
