She has >a >six month old baby that is a solid 22 pounds that has been fully breastfe >d >until quite recently. As a teacher she has only one short break to pump >each day. She's been back to work since mid-January and was pumping 8oz >per >pumping that has slowly dimished over time until she finds herself with >about 1oz per pumping now. This is normal...a gradual dwindling of milk production over time, because of lack of stimulation. One pump session per working day over the past four months starting when the baby was still only two months old is not enough for most women to maintain a full milk supply....the dwindling is normal, expected, physiological, and nothing to do with stress. Most effective way to increase milk supply is to pump more often in the day, and/or feed the baby more often when she is with him, including at weekends.
