The ABM new Protocol #13 Contraception During BF says "Women can use LAM while working if they pump their breasts and provide milk to the baby's caregiver during their absence. However, in one study using this approach, the efficacy was about 95%, slightly lower, but not significantly different than efficacy in women not separated from their infantrs. Further research is needed on this issue; however, if this if the only method a woman is willing to accept and is well informed of the possiblity of decreased efficacy, LAM should remain an option for women who are regularly separated from their infants." The Protocol is in the inaugural issue of BF Medicine, which was being offered as a Free Peek at the publishers, www.liebert.com Now -- what I love about Lactnet is that Nikki Lee is a (revered) local colleague -- literally lives about 4 miles from me -- and yet, this global forum for communication and sharing has brought her question to me. How cool is that?
