Hi Nancy-- Your response was inaccurate. http://www.bfmed.org/index.asp?menuID=137&firstlevelmenuID=137 My calendar might be wrong, but September 19, 2006 is a Tuesday and the following three days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. And Niagara Falls is a difficult trip and not a spot to spend five days. You are correct, last yearıs ABM meeting was held on a weekend. How many annual meetings have there been? I cannot find the dates and days of any others. The LLLI seminar was Thursday-Friday in 2005 and mid-week this year. In 2004 it was Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday http://www.lalecheleague.org/ed/PhysSem04.html 2003, it was Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday http://www.lalecheleague.org/ed/PhysSem03.html 2002 Thursday, Friday, Saturday (a little better, btw) http://www.lalecheleague.org/ed/PhysSem02.html 2001, the same http://www.lalecheleague.org/ed/29th.html Et cetera Maybe it is just the impression of exclusion and the feeling that there is not enough effort to include private practice pediatricians in these proceedings. Have you looked at the attendance rosters to sort out how many hospital-based doctors attend these conferences vs. the number of peds in private practice? BTW, I have received a pleasantly positive response from LLLI and from the list. Maybe it is just that I am annoyed that I cannot attend either meeting this year although I will be in SD for one day and my new associate and IBCLC will be there for the whole meeting. XOX, as usual, anyway, Jay _____________________________ This is absolutely NOT true. The ABM meeting has always been Fri-Sat-Sun with the basic breastfeeding course Thurs. More than half of the leadership of ABM are clinical MDs, as are most of the membership. Most of us take vacation time to attend the meetings. The LLLI meeting was done, for the first time, "mid-week" this year purely for hotel rates reasons.
