Thank you all for bringing up the risk of death article. It was incredibly timely. Even with all my epidemiology, I missed this one. I happily gleaned the 21% figure from one of those emergency management policy statements from a highly reputable source, went back to the original article, didn't process that they had used substraction for a division problem, and inserted it into all the handouts I'm doing on how to integrate breastfeeding into child survival interventions. I deliberately put that statistic in because of all of you who have been tracking the propaganda in the media that third world women are being held back from economic development because of breastfeeding and since formula never killed anyone in this country, they should be using it so they could become more economically productive. So, now the shocking statistic that has every person I know saying "really, I didn't know it was that high" is even more shocking. Many thanks, Susan Burger, MHS, PhD, IBCLC Who is feeling like all those years of plowing through nasty statistics up to matrix algebra which was my final undoing was somewhat worthless if I can't spot a simple error right in front of my nose. *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
