Hi Stacy and welcome to Lactnet. I did wonder when I saw your e-mail
address on the new subscribers list today, whether you were associated with
the business in the news item mentioned here yesterday, and you answered
that question already, thanks!

There has been some mention of Prolacta previously, but until now, no
mention of any milk collection system outside of hospitals. I have some
more questions and I am sure there are others on Lactnet who are interested
in the answers so I am writing to you via the list.

First, you didn't include your alphabet soup after your name. What are your
and Kim's professional qualifications for holding classes and providing
support to breastfeeding women?

Next, what is the business aspect of your company? That is, how are your
material operating costs and income covered, if your classes are to be
provided free of charge to the women attending them?

What about the donors? Are they compensated for the work of collecting milk
as they are in the publicly run milk banking system here in Norway, by being
provided with a hospital grade pump, containers, and a symbolic sum of money
per liter of milk delivered? Can they stipulate what their milk is to be
used for, for example that it is only to be used to provide food for
newborns in need of human milk, and not for research leading to patenting of
human milk components which could be used in production of therapeutics for
adult disease? This has been a concern for some donors previously, and has
been addressed by the existing human milk banking system in the US, if I am
not mistaken.

Hope this isn't too many questions all at once, I am really curious about
this.
