Diane, my Australian nutrition textbook says that the usual
requirement for an adult (RDI) is 2 micrograms per day. Under
'toxicity' it says that it is very low toxicity in doses up to 1000
times the RDI. So this would be 2000 micrograms. It didn't mention
any concerns re babies, pregnancy, etc (whereas it does generally
include info about these if relevant). However, this is not a
specialist textbook for mother-child issues.
