On page two it shows a young infant (guessing 1month old at most) on his back with this binkie holder over its face. To me, it would appear that this pacifier holder completely covers this baby's nose and mouth, in effect doing basically what would be happening if this baby was laying on his tummy. It appears that carbon dioxide containing air would be more likely to be trapped with this "binkie holder" as would the babe be laying on his poor belly, making the SIDS risk, though small, the same. Did anyone else notice this? I feel so badly for these new moms who are so confused by all of this new information. At our LLL meeting on Tuesday, the issue came up and without putting down the AAP we group moms who had older children, encouraged the moms with new babies to use the breast as their pacifier. I hope the information sinks in and they hear us.
