Interesting thread, personally.  My highest need baby who slept little, 
nursed constantly turned out  just fine. The "easiest" of four children was 
the one who is bi-polar. She distinguished herself  very early,before 
toddlerhood,  by being alternately very perceptive or misinterpreting others 
words or actions, shy,and constant thumb sucking.   A grandchild was very 
high need  - had to be sucking continuously - nursing or pacifier.  At 13 
yrs. was discovered to have a large hole in her heart.  There was a Japanese 
study that spoke to midline defects being common among children who needed 
excessive amounts of sucking.
