High bilirubin levels can be damaging, but does it automatically follow 
that if too much is bad then none is good?  Bilirubin appears to protect 
the newborn from diseases involving oxidative stress.  What I gather from 
this article is that eliminating all bilirubin too quickly may do more harm 
than good.  I'd be interested in hearing others' opinions on this.
