I think this goes WAY back to the days (50-80's) when we used "mexican hat" nipple shields - thick rubber that affected milk supply. (decreased areolar stim, decreased transfer of milk etc ) Babies got really addicted to them and some moms found that by cutting a little away every day they could eventually get rid of them. With the softer pliable shields most babies today seem to be able to begin nursing on the shield and then mom slips it off and pops baby back on (bait and switch :-) Sincerely, Pat in SNJ, who has been around a long time :-) Tell the dr I work with that I've been a LLLLeader longer than she has been on earth! She's younger than my youngest!!! *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
