Re: Instincts. I work as a breastfeeding support worker every day in a UK Hospital andam studying for the IBCLC exam and everyday I go around to breastfeeding moms with problems and take their babies out of their plastic cot and out them on their mothers chest in skin to skin, and it is always always a miracle cure to feeding problems and mothers mothering instincts start to kick in.Instincts have to be given a chance to be acted on once felt. It is o.k to assume instincts but unless a mother is encourage to ACT on her instincts , her instincts may just frustrate her, especially if she is being told she will spoil her baby by picking it up too much and or if she sees everyone elses babies in their plastic cot wrapped all up like a parcel!!! iNSTEAD of focusing on giving so much information to moms , just giving them their babies to hold is all that is required (even from all of us in the field):) Karen Shah, LLL Leader, BSW.
