Diane, I am so glad you posted this question. Since I work with working moms, they bring up this question all the time. They find these tables online, and dutifully increase the amount of milk in their baby's bottles as the weight goes up. Then, the darndest thing, they can't keep up with how much their baby is drinking while with the care provider during the day, but the baby just wants to sleep at night and doesn't nurse much when they're together. I think especially in dealing with moms getting ready to go back to work and start pumping, we need to really really emphasize these equations are ONLY for the first few weeks - after that, "send what you pump" is my mantra - if the baby needs more, he or she will nurse a-plenty evenings and nights - and it's many a working mom who only discovers the joys and restfullness of co-sleeping AFTER her return to work...
