Our level 3 NICU is forming a focus group to look at our breastmilk storage policy. The main discussion is whether to use glass or plastic containers. We are leaning towards the Medela bottles, but have some interest in exploring glass as well. Do any of you use glass bottles? Our main concern is breakage. Do you know if there are any studies out there looking at the incidence of breakage when using glass bottles? Do any of you use glass in your NICU? I understand that milk banks use glass, so I would think that hospitals that use donor milk would have some experience with glass. Any information you can pass on will be greatly appreciated. I am no mail at this time, please email me privately.
