Melissa, I don't know the answer to your question but I do know that we all carry yeast or candida in our bodies. It is a normal organism for the human being. It is only when a person has a compromised immune system, poor nutrition, etc. that candida overgrows and becomes a problem. I have heard it said that when someone can not get rid of a candida outbreak, it is a sign that something in the body is off whack. Someone with a health body, good immune system can fight off a yeast infection quickly or more easily. A good source of candida information might be the book The Yeast Connection, which is the original one from the 1980's and has been revised and expanded into other editions. There is a group of doctors here in Houston that have a radio show and talk about these issues and they want their patients to avoid sugar, all carbohydrates, and fake foods for something like 2-4 weeks to help get rid of the candida. You can eat meats, vegetables, and some fruits only. And then when symptoms calm down they can add back whole grains and more fruit.
