I did a google search and could not find any connection between 23 Beta
Pregnenolone and neonatal jaundice.
If the MD is in USA, you could fax the AAP guidelines for initiation of
phototherapy. You could copy some info from Ruth Lawrence. But I doubt it
would do any good.
Jack Newman's book is good for the parents to read. If the parents read his
chapter on jaundice, they could then question the MD directly. It is thin
ice you will be treading to get between the parents and the MD. It is best
for the parents to ask questions and explore their options. If the MD does
not explain his/her rationale to the parents' satisfaction they can use
another MD.
