Dear Valerie, You are correct about the definition of "acknowledge," just not the application of it. What IBLCE is asking you to acknowledge is the intellectual property right of the patent holder, not the content of the patent. I agree with you that it is horrible that components of human milk should receive patents. You will not be in violation of the Code of Ethics as long as you do not try to patent one of these components, yourself.
